Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve 2024 Edition Rum 70 cl 54.5%

Each year, Master Blender Oliver Chilton creates a new edition of Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve, and the 2024 edition places a special emphasis on the fruity side of navy rum, with a significant presence from Barbados. This year’s release features Barbados components making up 60% of the blend, including a 22-year-old rum from Mount Gay.

In addition, the blend contains a substantial amount of rum from Trinidad, along with smaller quantities from Jamaica and Guyana. Notable elements in this blend include a 26-year-old Caroni, a 25-year-old Clarendon, and a touch of 28-year-old New Yarmouth, creating a remarkable complexity.

In keeping with tradition, the rum also includes a small portion of last year’s Master Blender’s Reserve (just under 4%) and a bit of the original Navy rum. It is neither sweetened nor chill-filtered and is bottled at a pleasing strength of 54.5%.

The rum has a deep, dark amber color and a nose that bursts with tropical aromas of grilled pineapple, mint, strawberry, lime, chili, and coconut. The flavor is rich and buttery, gradually enveloping the palate with notes of manuka honey, banana, vanilla beans, and mango. The finish reveals hints of licorice and dark chocolate.
