About Jodhpur

Jodhpur is a French gin whose name and label draw inspiration from the Indian city of Jodhpur and the colonial-era gin culture of that time. For newcomers it's an aromatic, mild gin with a fine balance of sweetness, spice and bitterness; for collectors it's notable that the gin uses as many as 13 different botanicals, giving it an unusually intense and layered flavour profile compared with many classic London dry styles.

History & Background

Jodhpur Gin was created as a tribute to the exotic gin-and-tonic culture that developed among British officers and officials in colonial India, where gin was mixed with tonic to make the bitter anti-malarial drug quinine easier to take. The name and the distinctive label, inspired by the architecture and colours of the Indian city of Jodhpur, are a deliberate nod to that history. Although the gin carries an Indian name and a colonial-era story, it is actually distilled in France using the French method, creating an interesting meeting of two cultures in one bottle. The 13 botanicals are composed to recreate the spiced, exotic experience the story references.

Production & Style

The gin is distilled with juniper and classic London Dry botanicals using a French method.
