    Item no.: 222479-5577

Weingut Schenk-Siebert 2023 Sausenheimer Riesling Feinherb is a fresh, lively and charming white wine from Pfalz, where the Riesling grape's natural acidity and aromatic purity are allowed to shine through clearly.

    Expert's Description

Weingut Schenk-Siebert 2023 Sausenheimer Riesling Feinherb is a White Wine from Pfalz, Germany, made from Riesling with an alcohol content of 11.5%. The feinherb style - German for "off-dry" - gives a discreet hint of residual sugar that balances the Riesling's fresh acidity and makes the expression soft and harmonious without becoming sweet in the classic sense. Sausenheim lies in the northern part of Pfalz, where warm, sunny days and cool nights give the grapes both ripeness and retained acidity.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose opens with sun-ripened apricots and juicy peaches.

    Palate

The palate offers a discreet hint of residual sugar that balances the fresh acidity and gives a soft, inviting expression.

    Finish

The finish is clean and refreshing with a lightly fruity note.

    Serving & Food Pairing

Serve chilled at 8-10°C in a Riesling glass. Pairs well with Asian food with a touch of sweetness, white fish or as an aperitif.

The name 11th Hour Cellars refers to a philosophy of waiting until the very last moment with the crucial decisions - when to harvest the grapes, how long fermentation should run, and how long the wine should age in barrel - to bring out as much fruit as possible in the glass.

    Expert's Description

11th Hour Cellars Chardonnay is a White Wine from California, USA, made from Chardonnay with an alcohol content of 12%. The grapes come from the areas around Sacramento and Lodi in the northern San Joaquin Valley, where sandy loam soil, moderate humidity and cool breezes from the Sacramento Delta give the grapes good conditions for slow ripening. Item no.: 059763-615-1030

Near Flemming, close to Vejle, lies Christianelund. The Gold family planted their first vines in 2014 - the original plan was horses, but the family grew to six children, and a vineyard came instead. Solaris Øst is named after the east-facing plot, where the grapes are woken by the morning sun.

    Expert's Description

Christianelund Gold 2021 Solaris Øst is a White Wine from Christianelund Vingård in Denmark made from the Solaris grape, bottled at 11.7% ABV.

Solaris is a hybrid grape developed in 1975 in Freiburg by researcher Norbert Becker - bred specifically for climates like Denmark's, which sit right on the edge of what grapevines can handle. At Christianelund, the Solaris plots are split into two sections, one facing west and one facing east, and this bottle comes from the east-facing plot, where the grapes get morning dew and the cooler early sun. That gives the wine a touch more tension in the acidity than its western sibling.

    Tasting Notes

    Palate

    Item no.: 222276865480-67093-0315

La Folie means "the madness" - a fitting name for a pet-nat, where the grape juice is left to keep fermenting straight in the bottle, with little control over exactly how the bubbles turn out.

    Expert's Description

Domaine Begude Pet-Nat La Folie de Begude 2021 is a Sparkling Wine from Limoux, France made from 100% Chenin Blanc, bottled at 11.5% ABV.

Pet-nat, short for pétillant naturel, is an old method where the wine is bottled while still fermenting, so the carbon dioxide is captured naturally without added sugar or yeast. This edition is made without added sulphur and may therefore appear slightly hazy, with the odd natural tartrate crystal at the bottom.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fresh apple, pear and citrus with light floral and yeasty notes.

    Palate

Crisp acidity and a gentle mousse give a lively, playful and slightly rustic experience.

Brudersberg is not just a vineyard - it is the estate's own monopoly vineyard, a single hectare on Nierstein's famous "Rote Hang", to which only Weingut Heyl zu Herrnsheim has access. From this vineyard comes one of the most concentrated sweet wines found anywhere in Germany.

    Expert's Description

Heyl zu Herrnsheim 2006 Riesling Brudersberg Trockenbeerenauslese is a German White Wine from Nierstein, Rheinhessen, made from 100% Riesling with an alcohol content of 9.5%. Trockenbeerenauslese, often abbreviated TBA, is the highest sweetness category within the German Pradikatswein system and requires individually selected, noble-rot-affected berries that have shrivelled almost to raisins on the vine. Brudersberg is a one-hectare monopoly vineyard, owned and farmed exclusively by Weingut Heyl zu Herrnsheim, planted entirely to Riesling. Wines from here are internationally recognised for their unique character, and a TBA from this specific vineyard is a rare occurrence even in good vintages.

Brudersberg is such a small and exclusive vineyard that it measures only around one hectare - by comparison, the neighbouring Pettenthal vineyard spans almost 40 hectares, making Brudersberg one of Germany's rarest single-vineyard wines.

    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-19727888

On the famous "Rote Hang" - the red slope at Nierstein - Weingut Heyl zu Herrnsheim has grown Riesling since 1909, on land whose winemaking tradition dates back to monks from Worms in 1561. Pettenthal is one of the slope's most highly regarded vineyards.

    Expert's Description

Heyl zu Herrnsheim 2006 Riesling Pettental Auslese Goldkapsel is a German White Wine from Nierstein, Rheinhessen, made from 100% Riesling with an alcohol content of 9.5%. The wine is an Auslese, a Pradikatswein category produced only in particularly good years, allowing the grapes to be hand-picked late and selectively by ripeness. The gold capsule marks an extra-select quality within the Auslese level itself. The Pettenthal vineyard lies immediately north of the estate's own monopoly vineyard Brudersberg, on an east-facing slope that gives the grapes intense morning sun and good ripening. Auslese is sweeter than a regular Spatlese, but less concentrated than Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese.

  • Bottle of South African white wine from MAN Family Wines with pale label
    Item no.: 059763-615-190

It all started in a tractor shed in Stellenbosch, where José Conde and brothers Tyrrel and Philip Myburgh made their first 600 cases of wine in 2001. They named the project MAN - after their wives Marie, Anette and Nicky. Today Chenin Blanc makes up around a quarter of production.

    Expert's Description

MAN Family Wines Chenin Blanc is a White Wine from the Coastal Region of South Africa made from the Chenin Blanc grape, bottled at 13.5% ABV.

The wine comes from the Agter-Paarl area, known for its rolling hills and deep shale soils in a Mediterranean-like climate. The vines are farmed sustainably and mostly dry-farmed, which tends to give grapes with more concentrated flavour. Since starting out in 2001, MAN has grown from 600 to over 200,000 cases a year and is now exported to more than 30 countries - but Chenin Blanc has remained a core focus throughout.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Quince, pear and pineapple, with a pale straw glow.

    Palate

Fresh stone fruit and apple, carried by bright, taut acidity and a touch of minerality.

    Finish

Crisp and clean, with the fruit lingering longest.

    Serving & Food Pairing

Serve chilled at 8-10°C in a white wine glass. The wine pairs well with poultry, shellfish and vegetable dishes, and also works nicely as a fresh aperitif before the meal.
