Signatory Vintage released the Symingtons Choice series in 2023 as a tribute to founder Andrew Symington — a collection of carefully selected, aged single casks from Scotland's finest distilleries. This Bowmore from 1997 was drawn from cask no. 2422, a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, at full cask strength. Distilled on 23 September 1997 and bottled on 9 February 2023 — exactly 25 years in cask. The whisky is part of Hunter Laing's Kinship series, which in 2023 arrived at its seventh and final edition. The series was created to mark the opening of Hunter Laing's own distillery, Ardnahoe, on Islay, and the name Kinship refers to the closeness Ardnahoe shares with the island's other distilleries. The Bruichladdich bottling is the youngest in the closing edition, which otherwise spans whiskies as old as 33 years from names like Bowmore and Bunnahabhain.

Bruichladdich 2003 Little Brown Dog is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured for 22 years in a bourbon barrel and bottled at 53.6%.

The whisky was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2025 by independent bottler Little Brown Dog, after more than two decades of maturation in a single bourbon cask. The cask was originally part of a parcel of four, but stood out so distinctly in taste, depth and structure according to the bottler that it was purchased on its own.

Only 140 bottles were drawn from this single cask. Each bottle carries an original label featuring an oil painting by Danish artist Bjarne Helverskov Andersen, depicting the dunes at Kintra on Islay, a personal tribute to the artist's grandson, who sold the cask on to Little Brown Dog.

To preserve its raw, authentic character, the whisky is bottled through a 20-micron filter rather than the finer filters typically used, which can leave natural cask sediment in the bottle.

Bunnahabhain 12 Years Old Westering Home Old Version is a Single Islay Malt Scotch Whisky in a 100cl format, bottled at 43%.

From the mid-1980s onward, the Westering Home label – named after the lines from Islay's national song – was for a long time the only official Bunnahabhain release available outside the distillery itself. Back then the house style hadn't yet settled on the 46.3% known today, and this 12 Years Old is bottled at 43%, the standard of that period.

The bottle represents a bygone era of Bunnahabhain's history, when the distillery was far less known, and even a 12 Years Old core release was hard to come by outside Scotland.

Present Edition is the second release in a three-part series GlenAllachie created to mark Billy Walker's half-century behind the stills. The series is built around three chapters of his career — past, present and a gift toward the future — and this expression represents the present: a spirit given extra time to mature on a cask that is as rare as it is sought after.

Mizunara oak grows slowly and unevenly, which makes the wood porous and notoriously difficult to coop. Only a handful of cooperages worldwide have mastered the craft, and the result is a cask that lends notes of sandalwood, coconut and oriental spice — a character quite distinct from American or European oak.

The whisky matured first in PX and Oloroso sherry casks before moving into Mizunara virgin oak, where it picked up its final layers of character. It was bottled in June 2022 in a run of 2,900 bottles worldwide, placing it among the rarer releases in GlenAllachie's anniversary programme.

Tasting notes

Nose

Dried fruit and orange marmalade with prunes, dates and dark chocolate. Rich sherry with cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of smoke.

Palate

Full and sweet with fig, raisin and caramelised orange. Warm spice with ginger, clove and dry oak.

Finish

Long and warm with dark chocolate, dried fruits and a soft oak bitterness. Sherry sweetness carries through to the last.

The 1824 Series used the colour of the whisky as a sort of menu for intensity — no age statement, just colour as the guide. Sienna represented the second deepest shade in the series, and the colour came entirely from sherry cask maturation, not from colouring.
