GlenAllachie 16 Year Old Billy Walker 50th Anniversary Present Edition – Mizunara Virgin Oak Finish – is crafted as a tribute to Billy Walker’s 50 years in the whisky industry. It is the second release in the anniversary series and the first whisky he has ever finished in Japanese Mizunara Virgin Oak. Mizunara is one of the world’s rarest and most demanding oak types, known for its porous structure, high cost and the fact that the trees must be around two centuries old before they can be used. This makes the Mizunara finish a striking and exclusive element of the release.

The whisky begins its maturation in PX and Oloroso sherry casks before being transferred to the Japanese virgin oak casks, which add deep aromatic complexity. The result is a chestnut‑coloured single malt with a rich and elegant profile. The nose offers dark chocolate, heather honey and grilled almonds, followed by sandalwood, ginger, orange zest and a hint of coconut. The palate is silky and layered with heather honey, cinnamon and crystallised ginger, moving into demerara sugar, dark berries, hazelnuts and thick fig syrup.

Only 2,900 bottles have been released worldwide, bottled at 48%, natural colour and un‑chillfiltered. It is a whisky that showcases Billy Walker’s uncompromising approach to cask selection and his ability to create depth and balance through rare and challenging oak types.
