In the famous botanic gardens at Kew, plants from every corner of the world grow side by side - and some of them have now ended up in a spirit. East London Liquor Company was invited to harvest Douglas fir and lavender straight from the gardens and distil a gin that tastes of the place itself.
Expert's description
East London Liquor Co. & Kew Collab Edition is an English Botanical Gin distilled in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and bottled at 40%.
The collaboration began when Kew appointed East London Liquor Company to create the first spirit in a new range, with proceeds supporting the Gardens' work protecting plant species and pollinators worldwide.
The two key botanicals, Douglas fir and lavender, are hand-harvested by Kew's own head botanist and combined with juniper, coriander, fennel, liquorice, angelica root and sweet orange.
The result is a fresh, resinous gin that pays tribute to the pollinators and plants without which there would be no botanicals to distil at all.
