Batch 3 is the third chapter of the distillery's oldest and most exclusive core release – three decades in oak, drawn out by the one man who knows the casks best.

GlenAllachie 30 Year Batch 3 is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in Sherry Casks and American Virgin Oak, bottled at cask strength 48.9%.

Batch 3 is the third release in GlenAllachie's annual 30-year-old series, and only 2,400 bottles have been filled from this particular batch. The whisky comes from eight hand-picked casks that have sat untouched since the early 1990s, and Billy Walker has married them from a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks, topped up with a smaller number of American virgin oak casks. Nothing has been added, and nothing has been filtered away – the whisky stands exactly as the wood left it.

GlenAllachie's spirit is known for its honeyed sweetness, and after three decades in Sherry wood it has built a deep, dark complexity layered with dried fruit and spice. The virgin oak lays a touch of vanilla and sweetness over the top of the Sherry's weight, without ever drowning it out.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Roasted almonds and honey meet ripe orchard fruit, while hints of worn leather and butterscotch mix with orange zest and dark chocolate.

Palate

On the palate it brings grape must, hazelnut and honeycomb, followed by citrus fruit and crisp toffee with a touch of ginger.

Finish

The finish settles softly into cinnamon and mocha, long and warm, with a last trace of the sweet Sherry that has followed the whisky all the way through.
