Black Tears Spiced Rum

Black Tears carries a name drawn from Cuba's bittersweet history and was the island's first-ever spiced rum. The base is a light Cuban rum from one of the country's best distilleries, infused with local herbs and spices in a recipe that balances sweetness and spice. It's best enjoyed simply, over ice with a twist of orange peel.

About Black Tears

The first spiced rum from Cuba is called Black Tears and is made from genuine Cuban rum and local herbs and spices. The base is a light rum from one of the island's finest distilleries. For the newcomer it's an easy way into spiced rum, sweeter and rounder than many other spiced rums; for the connoisseur it's notable that Cuba, traditionally known for light, clean rums, here delivers something in an entirely different category. Best enjoyed neat with ice and a twist of orange peel, or with tonic water for a surprisingly refreshing drink.

History & Background

The name "Lágrimas Negras" refers to the grief and longing many Cuban families carried after the 1959 revolution, when they were forced to leave their homeland. The sherry finish is a deliberate choice linking the rum to Spain and Cuba's shared colonial history, and the brand has marketed itself strongly in the Nordics, where it has achieved something of a cult following.

Production & Style

The rum is distilled from molasses in Cuban style and further matured in sherry casks, giving it a dark colour and a characteristic sweetness of raisin and dried fig.

Signature Style

Sherry Sweetness, Raisin, Dark
Raisin, dried fig and a sherry-like nutty sweetness dominate, rounded off by a soft, lightly spiced finish.
