Facundo Rum

To celebrate 150 years in the business, Bacardí gathered its best people around one question: what can the world's largest rum house achieve when volume is no longer the goal? Facundo, named after the founder himself, is the answer.

  • Bottle of Facundo Neo Silver white rum from the Bahamas
    Item no.: 22227865416-7209

White rum rarely gets to boast an age statement. Facundo Neo breaks the pattern with up to eight years of maturation hidden behind a perfectly clear colour.

    Expert description

Facundo Neo Silver is a White Rum from the Bahamas, matured up to 8 years in American oak casks and bottled at 40%.

The rum is part of the Facundo collection, Bacardi's luxurious tribute to founder Facundo Bacardí, where each expression is hand-blended and filled into hand-numbered crystal decanters. Neo Silver matures for up to eight years in the Bahamas, before being shipped to Tultitlán in Mexico to be blended and bottled. The colour is subsequently removed by activated charcoal filtration, without stripping away the nuances the maturation has added, resulting in a white rum with unusual depth and complexity.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Big and punchy with green banana, vanilla and demerara sugar, plus a hint of almond and florals.

    Palate

Smoothly balanced with fresh banana, freshly cut grass, vanilla sugar and a nutty note.

    Finish

Sugared almond and vanilla linger longest, while orange and spice emerge towards the end.

About Facundo

Facundo is Bacardí's prestige series for connoisseurs, developed by master blender Manuel Sanchez to show what the world's largest rum house can achieve when the focus shifts from volume to finesse. For newcomers it's a surprising entry point into high-end rum from a name most people only know from the classic white bottle; for collectors it's notable that the series was created specifically to mark Bacardí's 150th anniversary, with releases like Neo, Exclusivo and Eximo, each representing a different ageing profile.

History & Background

Facundo Bacardí Massó founded Bacardí in 1862 in Santiago de Cuba, where he was the first to systematically purify rum of unwanted flavour compounds through charcoal filtration. The family fled Cuba after the 1959 revolution, but the company survived and grew into the world's largest privately-owned spirits house. The Facundo range launched in 2012 as a tribute to the founder's craft and vision.

Production & Style

The rums in the series are blends of Caribbean rum matured in various cask types, including cognac and port casks, with several editions blended from rum up to 23 years old.

Signature Style

Elegant, Complex, Cask-Driven
Dried fruit, cognac-like sweetness and a light smoky depth make a rum that speaks more to whisky and cognac lövers than to the classic cocktail rum.

The Bacardí family adopted the bat as their symbol because bats reportedly roosted in the original Santiago de Cuba distillery and, in Spanish folklore, signalled good fortune.
