One cask, one vintage, 380 bottles. The Rare Cask Collection is where Clément lets a single, chosen barrel speak for itself, without blending it into the house's larger, better-known series.
Expert Description
Clément Rare Cask Collection 2002 Angelique is a Martinique Rhum Agricole from a single cask and bottled at 53.4%.
The rum was distilled in 2002 at the Clément distillery at Habitation Clément in Le François, Martinique, from fresh sugar cane juice on column stills following the classic Rhum Agricole method. After more than 15 years of ageing, the cask, named Angelique, was bottled as a standalone single cask release with a total outturn of just 380 bottles, making it one of the rarest releases in the Rare Cask Collection.
As a Rhum Agricole, the base is fresh-pressed cane juice rather than molasses, giving a greener, more herbal and citrus-driven character than most molasses-based rums, a style that becomes even more pronounced after such extended ageing.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Classic agricole character with mint and pineapple that unfolds slowly in the glass.
Palate
Fresh with grass and citrus, carried by the persistent agricole character of the fresh cane juice.
Finish
Clean and lightly dry, where the citrus lingers long after the initial sweetness has settled.
