Tiscaz Tequila

Sometimes you don't need another wild flavour experience, you need calm. Tiscaz is the quiet tequila among its noisy neighbours on the shelf - balanced, composed and full of finesse rather than attention-seeking spice. Whisky.dk goes as far as calling it an alternative to a bouquet of flowers, and for good reason.

  • Bottle of Tiscaz Gold Tequila with golden colour
    Item no.: 22227865479-10186

Not every tequila comes with a distillery that boasts its own website and its own tourist tours. Tiscaz Gold is one of the quieter voices out of Jalisco, a bottle that simply does its job: golden, round and ready to be mixed.

    Expert Description

Tiscaz Gold Mexican Tequila is a Gold tequila made from 100% blue agave, bottled at 35%.

The tequila is distilled in the state of Jalisco in Mexico, home of the blue agave and the birthplace of the tequila category itself. Gold, also called Joven, is a style in which a clear Blanco tequila is blended with a smaller share of aged tequila, giving the bottle its golden colour and a softer, rounder character without the agave having to wait years in a barrel. The result is a tequila built for wide use, from shots to big-batch cocktails.

    Nose

A sweet aroma of agave, caramel and vanilla.

    Palate

Full-bodied and slightly sweet, with notes of fruit, a touch of pepper and a fresh, herbaceous edge.

    Finish

    Did You Know?

Did you know that a Gold tequila like Tiscaz does not need years of barrel ageing to get its golden colour? By blending a clear Blanco with a smaller amount of aged tequila, it picks up both the colour and a softer flavour, without the long wait an Añejo requires.

  • Clear bottle of Tiscaz Blanco Tequila with Aztec-inspired label art
    Item no.: 22227865479-10187

The sun bakes over the highlands of Jalisco, where blue agave matures year after year before it's distilled into this crystal-clear tequila. Tiscaz Blanco comes straight from the still, unaged and unhurried – just agave, sun and patience.

    Expert Description

Tiscaz Blanco Tequila is a Mexican Blanco Tequila made from 100% Blue Weber Agave and bottled at 35% alcohol. The tequila comes from Jalisco and is distilled at the cooperative distillery Cooperativa Tequilera La Magdalena in the Los Valles district, registered under NOM 1463. Tiscaz is one of the lesser-known names in the tequila world, but the label carries a distinct Aztec-inspired design, and the bottle stays true to the classic unaged style, letting the agave itself do the talking.

Because Blanco Tequila doesn't rest in oak, it's the agave's raw character that carries the flavour. Tiscaz Blanco is therefore a natural base for cocktails such as the Margarita and the Paloma, though it's equally enjoyable neat with a wedge of lime and a pinch of salt.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Sweet cooked agave meets citrus zest, black pepper and a touch of herbs.

    Palate

Clean and lively, with clear agave and citrus carried by a smooth texture.

    Finish

Short and clean, with no rough edges.

About Tiscaz

Tiscaz Tequila comes in two variants: the characterful Blanco with fresh agave and citrus notes, and the fuller-bodied Tiscaz Gold with vanilla and gentle spice. For the newcomer, Tiscaz is an accessible, balanced introduction to tequila without the wildest extremes; for the connoisseur, the award-winning qualities are interesting because the brand manages to deliver finesse and aroma without leaning on the more extreme flavour profiles many newer tequila brands compete on.

History & Background

Tiscaz was created as a tequila that deliberately sets itself apart from the more extroverted and experimental brands on the market, choosing instead to focus on calm, balance and finesse. With both a Blanco and a Gold expression, the brand has built a range covering both the fresh and the fuller-bodied sides of the tequila spectrum. Tiscaz has won several awards for its quality and is today regarded as one of the more balanced choices for anyone wanting tequila without the wilder extremes.

Production & Style

The tequila is distilled from blue agave and made following classic Mexican distillation tradition.

Signature Style

Earthy, Spicy, Clean
The flavour is earthy and spicy, typical of pure agave spirit.
