Oceans 7 Year Mellow is a Rum, blended from fine and robust sugarcane distillates and matured for at least 7 years in white oak casks, bottled at 40%.
The rum comes from Ocean's Distillery in Spain, an independent bottler founded in 2012 that matures its rums in warehouses in the Ayala Valley in the Basque Country as well as on the island of La Palma in the Canaries. The Mellow expression is composed specifically to highlight a smooth, accessible profile where sweetness and spice are balanced without sharp edges, unlike the house's more intense Tasty expression.
Tasting notes
Nose
Aromatic and appealing with sweet notes of caramel, vanilla and marzipan alongside banana and a hint of orange, plus a light sweetness reminiscent of prunes and dried ripe grapes.
Palate
Smooth and quite sweet, dominated by caramel, vanilla and a marzipan-like pastry character.
Finish
Short but well-developed, with a subtly perceptible sweetness combined with a well-transformed wood note of vanilla and sweet dry almonds.
