Ramazzotti Sambuca

Ramazzotti has been closing out Italian meals since the mid-1800s, when the house first made its name with a dark herbal bitter. The sambuca builds on that same craft tradition, sweet and clean, with an aniseed profile that has become a benchmark in the category. It's a name that has survived changing fashions simply by sticking to its recipe.

From a Milanese herbalist's workshop in 1815 to Pernod Ricard's international portfolio - Ramazzotti is one of Italy's oldest liqueur stories.

    Ekspertens beskrivelse

Ramazzotti Sambuca is an Italian aniseed liqueur from the house of Ramazzotti, bottled at 38% ABV.

Fratelli Ramazzotti was founded in 1815 in Milan by herbalist Ausano Ramazzotti, who originally created a herbal liqueur (today known as Amaro Ramazzotti). Since 1985, the house has been part of the French spirits company Pernod Ricard, which today produces sambuca, limoncello and other Italian liqueurs under the brand in Canelli, where the traditional maceration and blending techniques are still used.

    Smag

The liqueur has a clean, classic aniseed flavour with a pleasant sweetness and a lightly spiced depth. The taste reflects the house's long experience with maceration techniques since its founding in 1815.

About Ramazzotti

Ramazzotti Sambuca is an Italian sambuca from one of the country's most familiar spirits houses. For the newcomer it's a well-balanced, classic sambuca experience; for the connoisseur, the Ramazzotti name is most strongly linked to the house's original dark herbal bitter from 1815, still one of Italy's best-selling digestifs, making the sambuca a natural extension of a brand with deep roots in Italian drinking culture.

History & Background

Ramazzotti was founded in Milan in 1815 by Ausano Ramazzotti, who developed a herbal bitter based on a secret blend of herbs and plants. The bitter quickly became an institution in Italian cafés and bars, and the Ramazzotti name is today one of the most recognisable in Italian digestif culture. The sambuca is a newer addition to the range, but draws on the same long tradition of herbal craftsmanship that made the house's original bitter famous.

Production & Style

The sambuca is distilled from star anise following a classic recipe, giving it its characteristic sweetness.
