Woodford Reserve Whiskey

Woodford Reserve is distilled at one of bourbon's most beautiful sites, three old copper pot stills that still triple-distil where most competitors settle for once. The distillery in Versailles, Kentucky is itself a national landmark, and the whiskey that emerges tastes almost as rich as the place looks.

About Woodford Reserve Whiskey

Woodford Reserve is made by Brown-Forman at a distillery originally founded in 1797 by Elijah Pepper as the Old Oscar Pepper Distillery, and today designated a National Historic Landmark. The distillery stands out for still using triple distillation on copper pot stills, a slower and costlier method than the column distillation most bourbons rely on, producing a rich, complex flavour with citrus, cinnamon and chocolate. Collectors find the annual Master's Collection releases interesting experiments in wood and grain, while newcomers meet one of the most elegant, well-balanced bourbons on the market.

History & Background

The distillery was founded in 1797 by Elijah Pepper, whose son Oscar later hired the Scottish-trained distiller James Crow, whose scientific approach to fermentation laid the groundwork for much of modern bourbon production. The site changed hands several times through the 20th century until Brown-Forman bought the historic property in 1993 and invested heavily in reviving the original copper pot stills and triple distillation. Woodford Reserve launched as a brand in 1996 and has since become Brown-Forman's flagship bourbon, winning gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

History & background

The distillery has roots dating back to 1812 and is officially designated a National Historic Landmark in the US.

Production & style

The whiskey is distilled three times in traditional copper pot stills and aged in new, charred oak casks following classic bourbon tradition.

Signature style

Full-Bodied, Spiced, Caramel
The flavor offers a full-bodied, complex character with clear notes of caramel, vanilla, and spice.
