About Hennessy

History & Background

Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer in French service, founded the house in 1765 in the town of Cognac. The family has run the business across eight generations, and today Hennessy sits within the luxury group LVMH alongside Moët & Chandon. Despite its size, blending is still guided by a small team of cellar masters.

Production & Style

Hennessy blends eaux-de-vie from several of the region's crus, with Grande Champagne and Borderies as recurring building blocks. Distillation happens twice in copper pot stills, and maturation rests on a mix of new and older French oak casks.

Signature Style

Round, Floral, Spiced
Expect ripe fruit notes, a touch of vanilla from the oak, and a warm, gently spiced finish.
