  Enghaven Black Strap Batch 2 is a Danish Rum aged in ex-bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 42%.

  The rum is produced by Enghaven Rum Distillery, the Danish small batch distillery near Randers, from molasses distilled in both pot and column stills. For Batch 2, casks were carefully selected for the blend, after which additional molasses is added to give the rum its characteristic dark sweetness. The name Black Strap refers to the dark, heavy molasses that is a central part of the recipe.

  The result is a deep, sherry-driven rum, where spiced honey meets a hint of smoke.

  Nose

  Pronounced sherry with ripe, juicy red berries and oak, followed by bergamot and citrus.

  Sherry, honey and a mild hint of medicinal smoke.

  Danish rum meets Danish coffee culture, brewed together on the island of Funen, where Enghaven's cask-aged rum is joined by African coffee from a local roastery.

  Enghaven Kafferomlikør is a Rum Liqueur from the Danish Enghaven Bryggeri & Destilleri, blended from the house's cask-aged rum and coffee, bottled at 20%.

  The liqueur starts from Enghaven's own cask-aged rum, which is then blended with an African coffee blend from Odsherreds Kafferisteri. Enghaven is a small Danish brewery and distillery specialising in combining local craft traditions with imported, high-quality raw materials, and the Coffee Rum Liqueur is the house's take on a round, coffee-driven dessert dram, where the rum's sweetness and caramel match the coffee's bitterness and roasted tones.

  That makes the liqueur something of a hybrid between a classic coffee liqueur and a rum-based dram, rather than a traditional pure rum.

  There is something about the smell of tar, salt and old timber that sets the mind wandering. That is how the air smells at the ferry landing in Mellerup, where Ragna crosses Randers Fjord day after day - and that is how Fjord Rom tastes.

  Fjord Rom 8 Years is a Danish Molasses Rum, distilled in 2018 and bottled eight years later in 2026 at Brænderiet Enghaven, at 48% ABV.

  The rum is the third bottle in the Fjord series, an exclusive trio created for Whisky.dk as a tribute to the small ferry Ragna and the route between Mellerup and Voer on the north side of Randers Fjord. Enghaven was founded in 2007 by Esben Moestrup, Erik Moestrup and Mikkel Nordkvist on the family farm the Moestrup family has run since 1881, and since then the range has grown from fruit brandy to also include rum, gin, vodka and whisky. Fjord Rom is built on molasses and has been given eight years to find its depth and warmth. Only 19 bottles of this batch were filled.

  Tasting Notes

  Nose

  Warm and dark with notes of dark brown sugar, dried figs and a touch of salty sea air.

  Palate

  Full-bodied and sweet with caramel, dark chocolate and spice, balanced by a lightly salted edge.

  Finish

  Long and warm, with a lingering sweetness reminiscent of molasses and dark cane sugar.

  Did You Know?

  Enghaven sits on a farm the Moestrup family has owned since 1881, and the distillery was only founded in 2007 - first with fruit brandy, later with rum, gin, vodka and whisky. Fjord Rom is therefore as much a story about a farm in transformation as it is about the fjord outside.
