New Grove is one of Mauritius' most respected rum brands, and the rum is double distilled at Grays Distillery, one of the island's oldest distilleries. The Old Tradition range is New Grove's older, more mature releases, with the 10-year edition aged in a combination of French oak and ex-Cognac casks, a cask strategy that gives the rum a pronounced French influence in line with Mauritius' historic ties to France.
The result is a round, well-developed rum with dried fruit and honey, carried by a lightly toasted oak character from the Cognac casks.
