  • Rum Nation 2015 Guadeloupe Blanc Single Domaine rum bottle
    Item no.: 22227865480-67093-0108

Freshly pressed sugar cane juice, distilled without ageing and bottled straight away, gives this Guadeloupe rum a raw, green character that only rhum agricole can deliver.

    Expert Description

Rum Nation 2015 Guadeloupe Blanc Single Domaine is a Guadeloupe Rhum Agricole, unaged and bottled at 50%.

The rum is distilled by Rum Nation from freshly pressed sugar cane juice from a single estate on Guadeloupe, vintage 2015. As an unaged blanc-style rhum agricole, it goes straight from distillation to bottle without any time in cask, preserving the sugar cane's green, vegetal character in its purest form. This style stands in sharp contrast to molasses-based rums and highlights terroir over cask influence.

The result is an intense, aromatic rum with pronounced herbal notes and a dry, mineral finish.

    Item no.: 2229-1106-1972

Rum Nation has been bringing home some of the world's most interesting rum casks to Italy since 1999, and this Barbadian Single Domaine release captures a vintage that today ranks among the house's older treasures.

    Expert Description

Rum Nation Barbados 2000 Limited Edition 8 Year Single Domaine is a Barbados Rum from a single source, aged for 8 years and bottled at 43%.

The rum is released by Rum Nation, the Italian independent bottler that has, since the late 1990s, specialised in seeking out and maturing rum from single countries and domaines rather than blending across origins. The Single Domaine designation means the rum comes exclusively from one particular source in Barbados, with no addition from other distillates. The rum was distilled in 2000 and aged for 8 years as a limited release, long before Rum Nation's later, better-known Barbados series.

The result is a classic Barbadian rum, where soft caramel and tropical fruit meet a lightly spiced, rounded finish.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Caramel, tropical fruit and a touch of vanilla.

    Palate

Round and soft with brown sugar, banana and light spice.

    Expert Description

Rum Nation Barbados 8 Year Limited Edition Single Domaine is a Barbados Rum, selected and bottled by the Italian house Rum Nation, aged 8 years in the tropical climate and bottled at 40%.

Rum Nation, founded by Fabio Rossi in 1999, imports rum distilled in Barbados and lets it continue ageing in the tropical climate to preserve the richness and intensity that can otherwise be lost through ageing in a colder climate. This Limited Edition is a sweeter, more fruit-forward interpretation of the house's classic Barbados rum, made to be approachable and easy to enjoy.

The result is a honeyed, floral rum with a light, earthy sweetness from the sugar cane.

    Tasting Notes

    Item no.: 22555554-788741

Guyana holds some of the world's oldest still-active distilling equipment, and this Rum Nation release blends rum from two of the most historic sources, a 250 year old wooden kettle and a double wooden column.

    Expert Description

Rum Nation British Guyana 2020 Release 7 Year Cask Strength is a Guyana Rum, aged for 7 years and bottled at 59%.

The rum is a blend made by Rum Nation, the Italian independent bottler, of heavier rum from a 250 year old wooden pot still and lighter rum from a double wooden column still, both part of Guyana's famous historic distilling heritage. The rum spent a brief period ageing in the tropics before moving to a cooler, continental climate, where it completed its maturation in second fill sherry casks. This combination preserves the fullness of the sugarcane while adding a light, winey character from the sherry casks.

The result is an intense, spiced rum, where ripe dates and tobacco meet a long, peppery finish.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Ripe dates, dark chocolate and a touch of cigar box.

    Palate

  • Rum Nation Demerara Release Solera No 14 Rum 70 cl 40%
    Item no.: 22227865418-20119

The Demerara river runs thick and brown through Guyana, and the name has clung to the rum longer than anyone can remember. At Plantation Diamond stands the country's last distillery. The rest have closed, been dismantled, forgotten - but the casks and the recipes survived. It is from here the Italians at Rum Nation source the molasses distillate for their solera.

    Expert description

Rum Nation Demerara Solera No 14 is a Demerara Rum from Guyana, aged in ex-Bourbon casks with a 12-month further maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks and bottled at 40%.

The rum is distilled from cane molasses at Demerara Distillers' Diamond Distillery, which today is the only remaining distillery in Guyana. Rum Nation blends distillate from pot still, which gives body and estery weight, with distillate from column still, which keeps the rum light enough to drink easily. The blend is built up in a solera system, where casks of different ages are continually topped up, so the expression stays consistent from bottling to bottling instead of carrying an age statement.

The main maturation happens in used American oak casks from Bourbon, which lay down vanilla and a creamy sweetness at the base. Then follows 12 months in fresh Sherry casks that have held Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, and this is where the spice, the raisins and the dark chocolate come in. Finally a small proportion of very old Enmore rum is added, pulling the whole blend in a deeper, more estery direction. Colouring has been added.

Demerara Solera No 14 belongs to Rum Nation's core range and has been on the market for so many years that it now serves as a benchmark for what softer, semi-sweet Demerara rum tastes like.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark and a touch musty in a good way. Concentrated molasses first, then mocha, cola and white chocolate, with bergamot and a distinct hint of barbecue smoke behind it.

    Palate

Syrupy and velvety. Molasses, dark chocolate, coffee and raisins, spiced up with cinnamon, cloves, orange peel and black pepper. Towards the end it dries out and shows oak.

    Finish

Long and sweet, almost vermouth-like, with liquorice, aniseed and leather. Underneath the sweetness lies a bitter herbal note that lingers long after the last sip.

At Río Hondo in north-eastern Guatemala the heat stands still between the warehouse buildings. The casks work fast here, because the tropical climate has no patience. The rest of the story takes place in a cool Italian warehouse, where the pace slows almost to a standstill.

    Expert description

Rum Nation Guatemala XO 20th Anniversary Limited Release is a Guatemalan Rum aged in ex-bourbon casks of American white oak, further matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and bottled at 40%.

The bottle is Rum Nation's anniversary release, made to mark the house's first 20 years. Rum Nation was founded in Italy in 1999 by Fabio Rossi and does not distil itself. The house buys, selects and matures. For this release the choice fell on some of the sweetest casks from Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala.

The raw material is cane molasses, and the distillate comes from column stills. That gives the clean, elegant style known from Guatemalan rum. Maturation happens in two stages. First at least four years in ex-bourbon casks at Río Hondo, around 185 metres above sea level, where the heat pulls colour and spice out of the oak at a pace no European cellar can match. Then 16 months in used Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks in a cool Italian warehouse. It is the second round that lays raisin, date and a wine-like sweetness on top of the base structure.

The rum is bottled in a decanter with a gold-coloured stopper and delivered in a gift box. The series is a Limited Release.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Honey and molasses first, then ripe dates and raisins. Behind that lies vanilla and dark chocolate, with a touch of toasted nuts.

    Palate

Full-bodied and almost creamy. Honey, raisin, date and prune, vanilla throughout, and a candied orange note that keeps the sweetness from turning flat.

    Finish

Long and soft. Sherry, aniseed and liquorice, with the chocolate sitting underneath.

Jamaican rum is known for its funky, powerful character. Here it meets a gentler, wine-driven sherry finish.

    Expert description

Rum Nation Jamaica 5 Years Oloroso Sherry Finish is a Rum from Jamaica, distilled on pot still, matured 5 years and finished in Oloroso sherry casks, bottled at 50%.

The rum is distilled on pot still in pure Jamaican tradition, giving it the characteristic funky style Jamaica is known for. After initial maturation in ex-bourbon casks, the rum is moved to Oloroso sherry casks for 15 to 18 months, with a small portion also passing through Pedro Ximénez casks before the final blend is assembled. The sherry finish adds a wine-driven, raisin-tinged depth that softens and rounds the otherwise powerful Jamaican character.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Very ripe, gourmand banana with Jamaica's typical funky pot still character and a freshness that balances the sweetness.

    Palate

Powerful entry with smoky notes, a metallic edge, cocoa and black liquorice.

    Finish

    Expert Description

Rum Nation Meticho Chocolate & Toffee is a rum-based Spirit Drink with Central American rum as its base, flavoured with chocolate and toffee, bottled at 40%.

As with Meticho Citrus, the addition of natural flavourings means the drink is sold as a spirit drink rather than rum, even though the base is the same Central American rum from Rum Nation's range. Here, however, citrus is replaced with rich chocolate and creamy toffee, supported by vanilla, caramel and a hint of nuts, spice and cinnamon, giving the drink a bakery-like depth.

The result is a warm, dessert-like drink that works equally well after dinner as it does in a cocktail.

Four small bottles, four countries. Peru, Panama, Guyana and Guatemala sit side by side in the same box, and they do not sound alike. Rum is not one language, but a handful of dialects, and here you can hear the difference in a single evening.

    Expert description

Rum Nation Miniature Gift Set Single Domaine Rum is a set of four Rums from Peru, Panama, Guyana and Guatemala, aged in Ex-Bourbon casks and bottled between 40% and 42%.

The box gathers four bottlings from Rum Nation's Limited Edition series: Peruano 8 Years at 42%, Panama 10 Years at 40%, Demerara Solera No 14 at 40% and Guatemala Gran Reserva at 40%. All four are made from molasses, and all four are what Rum Nation calls Single Domaine - rum from one place rather than a blend across countries.

Peruano 8 Years has spent eight years in Ex-Bourbon casks and is the most lively of the four. Panama 10 Years is column distilled and carries ten years in Ex-Bourbon casks. Guatemala Gran Reserva is aged by the solera principle in Ex-Bourbon casks in the highlands around Río Hondo. Demerara Solera No 14 is the darkest: distillates from both pot still and column in Guyana, mainly aged in Ex-Bourbon casks and then finished for around twelve months in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. It is the one that pulls the set in a heavier direction.

Rum Nation was founded in 1999 by the Italian oenologist Fabio Rossi under the family firm Rossi & Rossi in Treviso. The idea arose when he came across old casks from Guyana and Jamaica in a Scottish whisky warehouse. In November 2018 Danish Mac Y Group A/S bought the brand, which has since been called Rum Nation International A/S. Rossi & Rossi still produces, and Fabio Rossi remains involved as an advisor.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The set spans wide. Peruano opens soft with hay, peach and a hint of mocha. Panama is lighter and sweeter, with acacia honey and sun-dried raisins. Guatemala gives vanilla, orange peel and caramel. Demerara is the estery counterweight with fermented fruit, cola and bergamot.

    Palate

Peruano has the most drive: caramel, vanilla, dried fruit and a touch of smoke. Panama is light-bodied but softly fatty, with milk chocolate and a hint of apricot. Guatemala wraps around the palate with vanilla, mild spices and lightly salted caramel. Demerara goes the other way and gives molasses, dark chocolate, coffee and a roasted bitterness with black tea.

    Finish

Peruano turns warm and spiced with oak and chocolate. Panama finishes clean and calm without tiring the palate. Guatemala ends roasted and sweet. Demerara lasts longest and swings between herbal bitterness and syrup, almost like vermouth.

  • Rum Nation Solera No 14 Demerara Release Rum bottle
    Item no.: 2227865479-1106-197280322-195

From Guyana's famous Demerara river comes this solera blend, where pot still richness and the lightness of column distillation unite in a single bottle.

    Expert Description

Rum Nation Solera No 14 Demerara is a Guyana Rum aged via the solera method, bottled at 40%.

The rum is selected and bottled by the Italian bottling house Rum Nation and is a skilled blend of different vintages from both pot still, which gives richness, and column distillation, which contributes a lighter, crisper foundation. The main ageing takes place in ex-bourbon casks for a creamy sweetness, after which the blend is finished for 12 months in fresh sherry butts, both Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso, which reinforces the spiced character. A small proportion of very old Enmore rum is added at the end for further complexity and dark character.

The result is a smooth, aromatic rum, where vanilla and tropical fruit meet caramel and a light peppery finish.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Vanilla, tropical fruit, prune and marzipan.

    Palate

Intense with caramel, coffee and spice.

    Finish

  • Versailles 30 Year 1990 2021 Rum Nation Small Batch Rare rum bottle
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-19727856

The Versailles distillery in Guyana brews its rum on a single wooden pot still, one of the last of its kind in the world, and the result is a rum so wild that 30 years in cask can barely tame it.

    Expert Description

Versailles 30 Year 1990/2021 Rum Nation Small Batch Rare Rum is a Guyana Rum, distilled on a single wooden pot still and aged for 30 years, bottled at 56.8%.

This rum is part of Rum Nation's Small Batch Rare Rums series, where Italian bottler Fabio Rossi selects single casks from the world's most interesting distillates. The Versailles still is famous among rum enthusiasts for its extremely funky, ester-rich character, a legacy of the Demerara region's tradition of many different still types on a single distillery. The rum received a short finish in a sherry hogshead that previously held Scotch Whisky, adding a winey touch to its wild base profile.

With 30 years in cask, the edges have been smoothed slightly, but the rum remains unpredictable and full of character.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Flamboyant and funky with pronounced esters, earthy tones and a winey touch from the sherry cask.

    Palate

Thick, wild and unruly, with clear influence from the old oak and dense tannins.

    Finish

Long and sharp, where the distillate's raw style shines through despite the heavy tannins.

About Rum Nation Rum

Rum Nation is an Italian bottling house that has specialised in single origin rum from across the Caribbean and Latin American rum belt, respecting each country's own distillation and maturation tradition. The company's approach is built on thorough research and strict selection rather than high volume, which has given Rum Nation a reputation as one of the most trustworthy names when it comes to conveying a country or island's authentic rum style. For beginners, the range offers a manageable entry into the many different rum styles, while seasoned collectors chase the rarer, limited vintages.

History & background

Rum Nation was founded in 1999 by the man behind the idea, Fabio Rossi, who had built considerable experience through years of travel, tastings and research in rum-producing countries from the tropical Cancer to the Equator. Fabio Rossi personally travelled to almost every country that produces good rum, finding the casks that would later make up the company's range. The strong response to the early releases cemented Rum Nation as a serious player, and the company has since held onto its philosophy of single origins in limited quantities.

Production & style

Rum Nation doesn't distil itself but selects rum distilled from sugar cane in countries like Jamaica, Barbados, Guatemala and Nicaragua, using both pot still and column still depending on each country's tradition. After import, part of the rum matures further in Italy's temperate climate, giving a slower, gentler maturation than the tropical heat allows.

Signature style

Authentic, Terroir-driven, Varied
From Jamaica's powerful funk to Nicaragua's soft sweetness, every bottle reflects its origin's own distinct expression.
