Guyana holds some of the world's oldest still-active distilling equipment, and this Rum Nation release blends rum from two of the most historic sources, a 250 year old wooden kettle and a double wooden column.

    Expert Description

Rum Nation British Guyana 2020 Release 7 Year Cask Strength is a Guyana Rum, aged for 7 years and bottled at 59%.

The rum is a blend made by Rum Nation, the Italian independent bottler, of heavier rum from a 250 year old wooden pot still and lighter rum from a double wooden column still, both part of Guyana's famous historic distilling heritage. The rum spent a brief period ageing in the tropics before moving to a cooler, continental climate, where it completed its maturation in second fill sherry casks. This combination preserves the fullness of the sugarcane while adding a light, winey character from the sherry casks.

The result is an intense, spiced rum, where ripe dates and tobacco meet a long, peppery finish.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Ripe dates, dark chocolate and a touch of cigar box.

    Palate

Dry and clean with raisin and a light winey sherry character.

    Finish

Long and increasingly spiced with pepper and cinnamon.
