The house was founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, whose descendants later split the firm into three independent champagne houses. It was Henri-Guillaume Piper who, in the 1830s, took over management and placed his own name ahead of the family's, giving the house its current name, Piper-Heidsieck. From the mid-20th century onward, the house cemented its place in the American film world, where the champagne became a fixture at Oscar parties and in the lives of movie stars, a legacy that still defines the brand's image today.
