For the 30th time, we're throwing open the doors to Whiskymessen – and that calls for a proper celebration.

30 times of golden drams, sherry casks and good stories by the stands deserve a proper send-off. We've put extra care into the details, so you'll go home with new favourites and an aftertaste that lingers. The VIP guest ticket has also had a service check this year.

It is just before nine on a Saturday morning in March. The halls at Sydbank Arena are still quiet, the glasses are polished, and behind the bars the first bottles are waiting to be opened. As a VIP you are already inside before the queue outside has even settled.

Membership of Whiskymessen VIP Club 2027 is a VIP ticket to Whiskymessen on Saturday 6 March 2027 at Sydbank Arena in Kolding, Denmark, with entry one hour ahead of general admission, your own Glencairn glass and 25% off in the fair's three exclusive bars.
2027 marks the 30th edition of Whiskymessen, Denmark's largest whisky event. Expect whisky from all corners of the world, rum, bourbon, masterclasses and a hall full of people who are more than happy to talk casks and spirit with you. It is a long day. Which is exactly why the VIP ticket makes sense.
You notice the difference first thing in the morning. VIP guests are let in at 09:00, a full hour before the doors open to everyone else. That hour is worth a lot if you want some peace at the Exclusive Bar, a proper chat with the exhibitors without standing three rows back, or simply your first dram in quiet.
The VIP Club has had an overhaul for 2027. Early entry is now longer, and the VIP area has moved to Hall 3, with seating close to the Exclusive Bar. Nice to have when your legs start complaining around lunchtime.
What you get as a VIP
When you sign up
You receive an orange wristband for Whiskymessen 2027. It is your entry ticket, and it holds two fields for spring water and one field for a dram. You also get a Glencairn glass from Whiskymessen and a neck holder, so the glass hangs around your neck while you flick through the catalogue or jot down notes. On top of that comes a sample of Whiskymesse Malt to redeem at the Exclusive Bar, two bottles of spring water and an "I love Whisky.dk" sticker for your laptop or fridge.
On the day
You get 25% off at the Exclusive Bar, home of the rare bottles, at the Rum Exclusive Bar and at the Bourbon Bar with its bourbon and rye. At the entrance you are handed the tasting catalogue, so you can plan your route through the halls. The cloakroom is free, so your coat can stay put all day.

What can you expect at Whiskymessen?

In short: a full day of whisky, rum, specialty beer, gin and liqueurs, and enough tastings to make you forget where you parked the car. Most stands offer free tastings, and there's a solid selection of bottles to take home – from the big, familiar names to distilleries you've never heard of (yet). Want to go deeper into the glass? Book a seat at one of our Masterclasses, where experts from Denmark and abroad talk everything from sherry casks to peat smoke while you taste some of the best they have to offer.

The Exclusive Bar is the place to be if you're into the rare and pricier bottles – tastings cost extra here, but in return you get your hands on whisky you rarely see outside an auction. The halls are never quiet – there's a constant hum of good conversation and laughter – and when the Green Forest Pipe Band strikes up, it adds a touch of Scottish Highland atmosphere to the whole thing.

The history of Whiskymessen

The first Whiskymessen was held in 2001 at Parkhallen in Kolding, back then a small fair run by two whisky nerds, Henrik Olsen and Ulrik Bertelsen, who also own Whisky.dk. Along the way, the fair has lived in several places – including Bramdrupdam Hallerne – and spent a period entirely outside the city, before it moved home to Kolding for good and settled into Sydbank Arena. In 2026, around 2,400 guests came through the doors, and in 2027 we open them for the 30th time. It hasn't happened quietly – we've fine-tuned the programme and listened to both guests and exhibitors along the way – but the foundation is the same as in 2001: whisky is meant to be tasted, not just sold.

The local press in Kolding shows up every year, and the story is usually the same: the fair is well attended, the hall is packed, and the mood is high.
