Finnish distillery Kyrö partnered with HBO's Game of Thrones universe to create two whiskies inspired by House Targaryen's motto 'fire and blood'. Kyrö is known for using exclusively rye as its grain, an unusual approach in the whisky world.

The nose offers cereal, apple and apricot, layered with tonka bean, chestnut and beeswax.
Palate

About Game of Thrones

The Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection launched in 2018-2019 as a collaboration between Diageo and HBO tied to the show's final season. The series pairs nine of Diageo's Classic Malts distilleries with nine houses and factions from the story, each with its own label and flavour profile symbolically matching the character.

History & Background

Diageo chose distilleries whose flavour and geographic location matched the respective houses' personalities – for instance Lagavulin's heavy smoke for House Lannister and Talisker's maritime power for House Greyjoy. The series became a commercial success and was released only in a single run, making the bottles popular collector's items.

Production & Style

Each whisky in the series is the respective distillery's standard release or a light variation thereof, bottled with a specially designed Game of Thrones label, without changes to the production method itself.
