Quinta Do Infantado Port Wine
Quinta Do Infantado Port WineQuinta do Infantado is one of the Douro Valley’s most characterful and distinctive port wine estates – a place where tradition, craftsmanship and terroir come together in a remarkably pure expression. Founded in the early 19th century, the estate sits in the heart of Cima Corgo, an area long celebrated for producing some of the region’s most refined and concentrated port wines. Since the late 1800s, Quinta do Infantado has been owned by the Roseira family, whose generations of winemakers have shaped the estate with a deep respect for Douro’s landscape and heritage. Their vineyards are classified at the highest quality level, and the fruit has always been prized for its intensity and balance. The estate is known for its independent spirit. At a time when nearly all port wine was sold to the large houses in Vila Nova de Gaia, Quinta do Infantado became one of the first producers to bottle their ports directly on the estate. This allowed them to preserve the identity of their vineyards and create a style that stands apart: less sweet, more structured and distinctly vinous. Production follows traditional methods, often with foot‑treading in granite lagares and ageing in large, old wooden vats that add depth without overshadowing the fruit. The result is port wines with clarity, personality and a natural elegance that has earned the estate a loyal following among enthusiasts. Today, Quinta do Infantado remains one of Douro’s most authentic and respected port wine producers – a house where history, terroir and craftsmanship are present in every bottle. |
