About Poli

Poli is an Italian family-owned distillery, founded in 1898 in northern Veneto, where generations have specialised in producing some of Italy's finest liqueurs and spirits. For newcomers the Sambuca is a classic, anise-driven introduction to Italian aperitif and digestif culture; for connoisseurs it's interesting that the same craftsmanship that has made the house's Grappa famous also lies behind the Sambuca.

History & Background

The Poli family founded its distillery in 1898 in northern Veneto and has since run the business through several generations, focused on craftsmanship, quality and tradition. The range grew over the years to include Limoncello, Gin, Vermouth, Sambuca and Grappa, each category built on the same principles of careful, small-batch distillation. Today Poli is one of Veneto's most respected names in Italian spirits, carried forward by the family's persistence for more than a century.

Production & Style

The sambuca is distilled from star anise and other herbs, often with the same care and copper stills the family uses for its grappa. The result is a cleaner, less artificial sweetness than many industrial sambucas.
