The Vintage Malt Whisky
The Vintage Malt WhiskyThe Vintage Malt Whisky is one of many independent bottlers based in Scotland, founded in 1992 by Bryan Crook. Bryan began his career in 1978 at Auchentoshan and later worked for Bowmore, focusing on global sales. When Suntory acquired Bowmore, Bryan decided to go independent and established Vintage Malt Whisky in Glasgow. The first single malt to be launched under the brand was Finlaggan from Islay, followed by Tantallan, Glenalmond, and a series of whiskies called Cooper’s Choice. All the whiskies come from well-respected distilleries with which Bryan has built strong relationships over the years. Today, the company exports to around 20 markets, with Germany and parts of Asia being particularly important for the small family-run business. Nowadays, the company is run by Bryan’s son Andrew, though Bryan still remains involved as he gradually transitions into retirement. We met Andrew for a chat about the whisky industry and what it's like to be a small fish in a very big pond. Listen to our podcast here: |
