Mezclado Rum

Mezclado simply means "mixed" in Spanish, and the name fits perfectly for this Danish blending house from Middelfart, where master blender Rado composes rums from Panama, the Dominican Republic and other rum-producing countries into an expression all its own. Nothing is distilled on site - the craft lies in listening for how different rum styles play together in the glass. The result is a range spanning sweet, easy-drinking bottlings to dry, spiced blends for the more experienced palate.

About Mezclado

Mezclado is a Danish rum house that doesn't distil itself, but instead sources rum from several respected countries of origin and blends them into expressions ranging from clearly sweet, approachable styles to dry, spiced profiles for the more seasoned palate. The range also includes a popular chocolate rum, Mezclado Dark C, making the house a natural starting point for a newcomer's rum journey. For the more experienced collector, the interest lies in the blending craft itself: bringing rums from several continents together into one coherent whole is a discipline of its own, setting Mezclado apart from pure single-origin bottlings.

History & Background

Mezclado is a relatively young Danish brand, founded in Middelfart out of its founders' passion for rum and a wish to create blends that didn't yet exist on the Danish market. Rather than building a distillery of its own - a costly and slow route - the house chose the role of blender, sourcing rum from established distilleries abroad and then composing, further ageing and finishing it in Denmark. It's a model several Nordic rum houses have adopted in recent years, since it allows room to experiment without the investment of running production.

Production & Style

The raw distillate is produced in its respective countries of origin, after which Mezclado in Middelfart handles the final composition and any further aging or flavoring. The master blender's job is to find the balance between the different rum styles so the finished product feels like a cohesive whole rather than a random mix.
