Kuentz-Bas was founded in 1795 in Husseren-les-Châteaux, a small village surrounded by some of Alsace's most celebrated Grand Cru vineyards, including Eichberg and Pfersigberg. Across generations, the house has built access to several of these prominent sites, giving it a solid foundation for expressing Alsace's grape varieties in their purest form. Although Kuentz-Bas rarely appears alongside the region's very biggest names, connoisseurs regard the house as one of the more solid and tradition-rich exponents of classic Alsatian winemaking.
