About Cruse

Cruse is one of Bordeaux's old wine trading houses with roots dating back to the 1800s, when it bought, blended and exported wines from the region's best chateaux. For newcomers it's an accessible way into Bordeaux's classic style; for collectors, the Cruse name is part of Bordeaux's trading history, from an era when the great négociant houses shaped how the world came to know French wine.

History & Background

The Cruse family established itself as Bordeaux wine merchants in the mid-1800s and, over generations, became one of the region's most influential négociant houses, with links to several of the classified chateaux. The family experienced both great success and periods of adversity, including a notable case in the 1970s that shook the otherwise tradition-bound industry. Today the Cruse name lives on as a quality mark within Bordeaux wine, built on the long trading tradition.

Production & Style

The wines are selected and sometimes further aged in oak by the house itself, following classic Bordeaux négociant tradition.

Signature Style

Full-Bodied, Tannic, Complex
The flavour is full-bodied and complex, typical of classic Bordeaux wine.
