History & Background

Glenmorangie developed the strategy behind Westport to be able to sell casks of its whisky on to independent bottlers without risking it being marketed as a direct competitor to the house's own single malt releases. By blending the whisky with Glen Moray's, that exact classification is avoided, while both distilleries' character is preserved in the glass. The solution has given Westport a unique position in the whisky world, a name existing in the shadow of two respected distilleries rather than as an independent brand.
