Bergslagens Whisky

  • Bottle of København Klassisk Whisky Nordic Gin House
    Item no.: 22227865666-5553

Named after our capital, brewed in Sweden. København Klassisk is Nordic Gin House's take on an accessible, everyday Swedish whisky.

    The Expert's Description

The whisky matured in used bourbon casks, giving it a soft and round character focused on vanilla and caramel rather than heavy oak spice. The name is a nod to Copenhagen, even though the whisky is actually produced in Sweden - a small contrast that's part of Nordic Gin House's concept.

About Bergslagens Whisky

Bergslagens Distillery is located in a converted slaughterhouse district outside Örebro, in the heart of the historic Bergslagen region, known for centuries for its mines and iron production. For newcomers it's an accessible, gently sweet Swedish whisky; for connoisseurs it's interesting that the distillery also produces gin and snaps alongside the whisky, offering a broad insight into Swedish craft distilling under one roof.

History & background

The Bergslagen region has for centuries been known for its many small mines and open pits, surrounded by deep forests and rich wildlife that helped shape Swedish self-identity. Bergslagens Distillery took over an old slaughterhouse district outside Örebro and converted it into a modern distillery producing gin, snaps and whisky under one roof. The name is a direct tribute to the industrial history the district was built on.

Production & style

The whisky is distilled from Swedish barley and aged in oak casks in Sweden's inland climate.

Signature style

Grainy, Fruity, Light
