Five barrel types, a secret South American wine cask blended in, and rums as old as 30 years – the Botran family's celebration of 75 years in rum has not gone quietly.
Expert description
Ron Botran & Co Gran Reserva 75 Aniversario is a Ron de Guatemala, blended from rums from the family's Private Reserva matured between 5 and 30 years, supplied as a 50 cl main bottle with two extra 5 cl sample bottles and bottled at 40-45%.
The release marks the Botran family's 75th anniversary and is composed via a solera-like system drawing on five different cask types: port, sherry, two types of bourbon cask, and a secret South American wine cask whose origin the house does not disclose. The combination of the broad age spread and the unusual cask types gives a complexity that stands markedly apart from the house's other releases.
