Bob´s Bitters

A Michelin-starred pastry chef from London, encouraged by a legendary bartender to switch from cakes to bitters. Bob's Bitters is handmade, single-ingredient bitters from a shed in Essex.

    Item no.: 22232223569-996321

A Michelin chef switched lanes and began thinking about bitters the way he once thought about desserts, one ingredient at a time, instead of a big herbal blend. Coriander became one of his most distinctive single notes.

    Expert's description

Bob's Bitter Coriander is an aromatic cocktail bitter at 35% ABV, bottled at 10 cl.

Behind the brand stands Bob Petrie, who as Head Pastry Chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant was approached by Guiliano Morandin of the newly refurbished Dorchester Bar in London, who wanted a range of bitters for the bar's new concept, "The Gin Experience". Petrie approached the task from a culinary angle rather than the traditional method of blending many herbs together, instead making bitters built on single, clear botanical ingredients, coriander among them. The approach gave bartenders far greater control over the flavour of each drink, and Bob's Bitters is now used in some of the world's best bars. The bottle has a dropper cap, making it easy to dose 4 to 8 drops at a time.

About Bob's Bitters

Bob's Bitters is a range of small-batch, handmade cocktail bitters created by Robert Petrie, former head pastry chef at several Michelin-starred restaurants in London. The range is known for its single-ingredient philosophy, where each bitter focuses on one pure flavour rather than complex blends.

History & Background

Bob Petrie was encouraged by legendary bar manager Giuliano Morandin of the Dorchester Hotel to start making his own bitters, after Petrie had previously found success with his infused sake under the brand Nijizaki, which was well received in London's top bars. The original idea was to create a small range of bitters reflecting gin's various botanicals - such as cardamom, ginger and grapefruit - but the range quickly grew to encompass a wide variety of single-ingredient bitters.

Production & Style

Bob hand-makes, bottles, labels and distributes all his bitters himself from his own unit in Essex - a process that keeps production small and personal, even though the bitters are now used in some of the world's leading bars.

Signature Style

Concentrated, Pure, Versatile
Each bitter is built around one dominant flavour - from liquorice to chocolate - making the range especially useful for bartenders who want precise control over flavour profiles.
