Enghaven Danish Whisky

Rye Whiskey No. 1

The first Enghaven Whiskey is Rye Whiskey No. 1, bottled in November 2017. It is made from a mixture of malted barley and rye from Enghaven's own fields. Distillation took place in 2014, and subsequently stored in two different types of casks. One is an ex-bourbon dish and the other an ex-port wine cask that we used in the past for our successful Enghaven Rome.

Single Malt No.1

The first whiskey edition from Enghaven came in November 2018. Only 476 bottles. Stored in sherry casks.

A nice and robust scent of warm wood, malt and a volatile spicy character, as found in a fine old cognac. After some time in the glass, deeper notes emerge, of caramel, toffee, nuts and dried fruit. The taste is delicious and spicy: first we meet the cognac style, but then comes more malt sweetness and clear references to the sherry dish, with plums, berries, nuts as well as dried figs and dates. It has a delicious creamy mouthfeel, with both fullness and bite that goes into a long and spicy aftertaste.

The whisky liqueur from Enghaven has a fresh and fruity taste, like eating orange and tangerine candy. The taste is sweet with visible character. Enghaven no 1 Young Rye The aroma hints at fruity sweetness and lots of fresh herbs. There are subtle notes of ripe banana, pineapple and orange. It's reminiscent of a good English wine gum. The taste is "dessert-like" with distinct notes of chocolate, brandy and strawberries, almost like filled chocolates. Gradually, the toasted notes blend into the flavor, which also becomes drier and fades into a spicy freshness like mint and tarragon.

The second rye whisky edition from Enghaven. 381 bottles only. Rye Cask No 2 is produced from a blend of malted barley and rye from Enghaven's own fields. We have fermented the barley to add additional sweetness. The distillate has only been aged in one cask, an ex. Bourbon cask. The aroma has notes of vanilla, dried fruit and is reminiscent of a wild meadow and hay. It has plenty of sweetness on the palate, as well as a combination of birch and wood flavors. It has a long and warm aftertaste

The whisky has a scent of grass, birch and banana. It is very gentle and delicious in the mouth and has good notes of dried fruit and a nice long aftertaste, which finishes with malt sweetness and hints of citrus notes.
