Enghaven Danish Whisky
Rye Whiskey No. 1The first Enghaven Whiskey is Rye Whiskey No. 1, bottled in November 2017. It is made from a mixture of malted barley and rye from Enghaven's own fields. Distillation took place in 2014, and subsequently stored in two different types of casks. One is an ex-bourbon dish and the other an ex-port wine cask that we used in the past for our successful Enghaven Rome.
Single Malt No.1The first whiskey edition from Enghaven came in November 2018. Only 476 bottles. Stored in sherry casks.
A nice and robust scent of warm wood, malt and a volatile spicy character, as found in a fine old cognac. After some time in the glass, deeper notes emerge, of caramel, toffee, nuts and dried fruit. The taste is delicious and spicy: first we meet the cognac style, but then comes more malt sweetness and clear references to the sherry dish, with plums, berries, nuts as well as dried figs and dates. It has a delicious creamy mouthfeel, with both fullness and bite that goes into a long and spicy aftertaste.
