Nine Leaves was founded in 2013 by Yoshiharu Takeuchi in the town of Otsu in Shiga prefecture near Kyoto and quickly gained international attention. As early as 2014 the distillery won an Innovation Award at Rhum Fest Paris, one of the most important international events for rum enthusiasts, cementing Nine Leaves as one of the most exciting new names in Japanese spirits.

Production & Style

The rum is distilled in small batches and aged in different cask types, including French and American oak, giving the range several expressions like French Oak Rum and American Oak Rum, each with its own character.
