Rowan's Creek Whiskey

Rowan's Creek is named after a modest stream running through the distillery's land in Bardstown. The brand was just as modest, until it quietly became Kentucky Bourbon Distillers' best-selling name. Twelve years of aging gives it a softness few bourbons at the same price can match.

About Rowan's Creek

Rowan's Creek is produced by Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, better known as Willett Distillery, in Bardstown and is named after the small stream running through the property. The bourbon is made in very small batches and aged in charred oak barrels for a full 12 years, giving an unusual softness with notes of caramel, apricot, light smoke and fresh berries, and it has been the distillery's best-selling brand since 2011. Collectors find the high age statement and limited batches make Rowan's Creek worth pursuing, while newcomers get an accessible, well-balanced introduction to longer-aged bourbon.

History & Background

Willett Distillery, the family firm behind Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, was founded in 1935 in Bardstown and has for generations specialised in distilling, aging and bottling whiskey, both under its own brands and for other companies. Rowan's Creek was developed as one of the firm's own brands with a focus on a longer aging period than typical bourbon, and the name was taken from the stream running through Willett's property. The brand's success, including gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2005 and 2011, has helped cement Willett as one of Kentucky's most respected family-run distilleries.

History & Background

There is not much publicly available history on Rowan's Creek, and the house keeps a relatively low profile about its origins. What is clear is its position in the range, reflected in the style and character described above.

Production & Style

The bourbon is assembled from selected barrels and aged longer than many competitors, giving it a deeper, more mature character.

Signature Style

Full-Bodied, Sweet, Spicy
The bourbon offers a full-bodied, sweet character with a spicy finish.
