Rebel Yell 90 Proof Straight Rye Whiskey is the brand's rye-based expression, bottled at 45%. Rebel Yell was created in 1936 by Louisville's then-mayor Charles R. Farnsley to mark the 100th anniversary of the original Weller brand, with roots back to the Stitzel-Weller distillery of 1849. From the start, the brand used a wheated mash bill, giving it a softer, rounder character than a typical rye-based bourbon. After Stitzel-Weller closed in the early 1970s, the brand was acquired by Luxco, and since 2018 Rebel Yell has been distilled at the family's own distillery, Lux Row Distillers, in Bardstown, Kentucky.

The Expert's Description
Ardnamurchan AD Miniature 2024 is a gift set of four Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies in 5 cl format, bottled between 46.8% and 50%. The set gathers the distillery’s core expression and three cask variants, and all four are neither chill filtered nor coloured.
The first bottle is AD/, the house standard with 65% bourbon casks and 35% sherry casks. The second is the sherry cask expression, the third the rum cask, and the fourth a single cask Sauternes. Between them they cover the whole span from dry bourbon wood to sweet wine cask.
Ardnamurchan sits at Glenbeg on the westernmost mainland peninsula in Scotland and has been distilling since July 2014. The distillery makes both peated and unpeated malt, and both styles go into the releases.
Tasting Notes
Nose
AD/ opens with orchard fruit, beach pebbles and eucalyptus. The sherry cask gives Murray mint and smoked bacon. The rum cask brings salted cashews and vanilla extract, and the Sauternes offers nectarines and sweet pastry.
Palate
A common thread runs across all four: tobacco leaves, salt water and a touch of marzipan from the spirit itself. On top sit the contributions of the wood, sticky spare ribs from the sherry, coastal breeze from the rum and rich wax from the Sauternes cask.
Finish
Different from bottle to bottle, but over the same saline maritime floor. That shared denominator is exactly what the set makes it possible to hear.

On the coast at Akashi, where the Seto Inland Sea meets Hyōgo Prefecture, sits Japan's only whisky distillery built right on the water. From here comes an easy-drinking blend that carries centuries of sake craftsmanship into a Scottish-style whisky — made to be poured often, not just admired.
Expert's Description
Akashi Red is a Japanese Blended Whisky made from 30% malted barley and 70% grain whisky, matured in bourbon casks with a finishing period in sherry casks, and bottled at 40%.
The whisky comes from White Oak Distillery, run by Eigashima Shuzo — a brewer that has been making sake since 1679 and picked up one of Japan's earliest whisky licences back in 1919. It wasn't until 1984 that Mikio Hiraishi, great-grandson of founder Hyokichi Urabe, built a dedicated Scottish-style malt distillery and named it White Oak. The distillery still sits right on the Seto Inland Sea, making it the only whisky distillery in Japan located directly on the coast.
Akashi Red is the entry point into the range — an approachable blend that shows what Japanese "ji-whisky" (small, local distilling) can do without costing a fortune. It drinks easily on its own and really comes alive in a highball.

The Whistler Irish Honey Boann Distillery Irish Whiskey Liqueur combines Irish whiskey with honey for a golden, sweet liqueur, bottled at 33%. The Whistler is named after Pat Cooney, whose whistling can be heard through Boann Distillery, founded by the Cooney family in 2015 in the Boyne Valley, County Louth — the first distillery in the Drogheda area in over 160 years. The family has over 40 years of experience in the Irish drinks industry through their bottling company Gleeson Group.

Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond 100 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey follows the 1897 US Bottled-in-Bond Act, requiring the whiskey to be distilled in one season by one distiller at one distillery, aged at least four years, and bottled at exactly 50%. Evan Williams is named after the Welshman who, according to tradition, opened Kentucky's first commercial distillery on the banks of the Ohio River in 1783. When the Shapira brothers founded Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown in 1935, shortly after Prohibition ended, they chose to honour Williams' name for their flagship bourbon in 1957. Today Evan Williams is the second best-selling Kentucky Straight Bourbon brand in the world, second only to Jim Beam, and is made from a mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley.

Mellow Corn Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey is an American Straight Corn Whiskey, bottled at 50%. The whiskey was originally created by Medley Distilling Company in 1945 and came under Heaven Hill's ownership in 1993, after changing hands several times along the way, including through Renfield Importers and Glenmore Distillery. Unlike most corn whiskeys, typically sold as unaged moonshine, Mellow Corn is aged for at least 4 years in used bourbon casks. The mash bill consists of at least 80% corn, supplemented with malted barley and rye, giving it a sweeter, softer profile than traditional bourbon. The distinctive bright yellow label has remained largely unchanged throughout the whiskey's lifespan.

Douglas Laing Remarkable Regional Malts is a set of six Blended Malt Scotch Whisky in 5 cl bottles, bottled between 46% and 46.8%.
The range is Douglas Laing’s attempt to translate the geography of Scottish whisky into six bottles. Each release draws malt from a single area, so the difference between a Lowland and an Islay becomes something you taste your way towards rather than read about. All six are bottled at a minimum of 46% and without chill filtration.
The set holds The Epicurean from the Lowlands at 46.2%, Timorous Beastie from the Highlands at 46.8%, Scallywag from Speyside at 46%, The Gauldrons from Campbeltown at 46.2%, Rock Island from the Islands at 46.8% and Big Peat from Islay at 46%.

Nose
The range is the entire point. From the bright citrus and cut grass of The Epicurean, through the sherry sweetness of Scallywag, to the tar, smoked ham and sea salt of Big Peat.
Palate
Timorous Beastie gives honey and heather, The Gauldrons salted caramel and apple, Rock Island a soft smoke with seaweed underneath. Tasted side by side, regional character stops being an abstraction.
Finish
Short and clean at the pale end, long and sooty at the smoky one. Order matters here. Begin with Big Peat and the rest of the evening tastes of peat.

Glenfarclas 15 Year Old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in sherry casks and bottled at 46% in a 20 cl bottle.
The contents are the same as in the large release. The 46% is higher than in both the 10 and the 12 year old, and over fifteen years the sherry has had time to build a depth the younger releases do not reach. The small format makes no difference to the whisky — only to the quantity.
Glenfarclas carries age statements right up to forty years in its permanent range. That is unusual for a family-owned distillery, and it requires generations of restraint in selling off old casks. The 15 year old sits around the middle of that ladder.

Nose
Complex sherry notes with a touch of understated smoke, cream caramel and a hint of dried fruits such as dates and figs.
Palate
Great body with elegant balance. Plenty of sweetness from the sherry casks, malty tones, roasted nuts and a light smoke. The 46% gives the whisky weight without making it sharp.
Finish
Long and lingering with lavish sweetness, light smoke and plenty of complexity.

Aber Falls was founded in 2017 in the village of Abergwyngregyn in North Wales, in a 6,000-square-metre 19th-century building that was originally a slate works, then a margarine factory during the world wars, and later a warehouse depot for Halewood International, who led its restoration into a distillery in 2017. Aber Falls marked the first single malt distilled in North Wales in 120 years. The whisky is made entirely from Welsh barley and water from the nearby Aber Falls waterfall, located within the boundaries of Snowdonia National Park. In 2023, Welsh single malt achieved official Geographical Indication (GI) status, recognising it as a quality product with a distinct style.
