When it comes to the taste, you get almost a roaring sweetness followed by vanilla, rich oak. The corn is "thick" and the rye peeks out in the background. Super nice aftertaste that almost dries out in the mouth, but then the rye comes back and gives extra length and hints of licorice. Buffalo Trace is a "small batch" bourbon - that is, only produced in a small amount at a time. 25-30 barrels are selected from warehouses C, I & K. Only from the middle rows, where the aging is optimal, the barrels come. They are selected by Elmer T. Lee - the American bourbon legend. The rye reappears and fights to the end with the corn. I simply adore this whiskey, the balance is perfect between corn and oak, but also the bitter sweetness is in harmony.
