Merser & Co.

Merser & Co. is London's first rum blending house in over a hundred years, founded in 2019 to revive an almost forgotten trading tradition. The name means "merchant" in Old English.
  • Bottle of Merser Reserve Blended Caribbean rum
    Item no.: 059763-615-45-2

Caribbean distillates that travel to London to be brought together - Merser & Co. blends tropical origin with British blending craft.

    Expert Description

Merser Reserve is a Blended Caribbean Rum composed of distillates from several of the Caribbean's finest distilleries, up to 8 years old, bottled at 40.2%.

The rum is blended and finished for up to six months in London, giving it a harmonious and complex flavour profile across the different Caribbean distillates. The process results in a rum with depth and character - made to be enjoyed both neat and in cocktails. Merser & Co. is behind the brand and has specialised in precisely this London blending tradition.

By bringing together distillates from several countries rather than sticking to a single estate, Merser Reserve creates a broader flavour profile than many single-origin rums.

About Merser & Co.

Merser & Co. sources fine rums from Caribbean countries like Barbados, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic and brings them to London, where they are blended and left to rest for up to six months in oak barrels. The long harmonising process gives a deeper, more coherent flavour than simply blending rum shortly before bottling, making Merser & Co. an interesting take on modern London rum craft.

History & Background

Merser & Co. was founded in 2019 as London's first rum blending house in over a century, at a time when the city had otherwise lost its position as a centre for the rum trade. The name "Merser" comes from the Old English word for "merchant," a direct reference to London's long history as a trading city for colonial goods, including rum from across the Caribbean.

Production & Style

The rums are sourced from several Caribbean countries and shipped to London, where they are blended and left to rest in oak barrels for up to six months so the flavours can harmonise and develop depth before bottling.

Signature Style

Deep, Harmonious, London
A deep, harmonious rum where Caribbean flavours from several countries merge after months of resting in oak barrels in London.
