  Beaujolais wines are exclusively produced from the Gamay grape, which is acidic with plenty of fruity flavors. This results in light wines that are mild, lively, fruity, and highly drinkable with very little tannin. In fact, Gamay is not unlike Pinot Noir, but it's a much more accommodating grape than Pinot Noir, which is demanding to cultivate and handle. There are few places in the world as focused on a single grape variety as Beaujolais, and the Gamay grape has never really spread to other parts of the world.
