In Cramant, one of the Grand Cru villages of the Cote des Blancs, the Lancelot family has grown Chardonnay for eleven generations. Cuvee des Chevaliers is the house's interpretation of the chalk soil's pure minerality, poured at many of France's Michelin-starred restaurants.
Expert's Description
Champagne Lancelot-Royer Cuvee des Chevaliers is a Sparkling Wine from Champagne, France, made from 100% Chardonnay with an alcohol content of 12%. The champagne house P. Lancelot-Royer was founded in 1960 by Pierre Lancelot and Francoise Royer, though the family's roots in Cramant stretch back eleven generations, having become recoltant-manipulant growers in 1930. The 5 hectares of vines lie exclusively within Grand Cru-classified plots around Cramant, where the chalky subsoil gives the champagne its signature pure minerality. Cuvee des Chevaliers is a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, farmed under Terra Vitis and HVE 3 principles.
