Remy Martin Cognac

Since 1724, Rémy Martin has refused to leave its own backyard — every drop comes exclusively from the region's two finest crus. It's a self-imposed limitation few houses dare copy, and it has made Rémy Martin the world's leading producer of Fine Champagne Cognac.

About Remy Martin Cognac

Rémy Martin is the world's leading producer of Fine Champagne Cognac, a designation requiring at least 50% grapes from Grande Champagne, the most prestigious of the Cognac region's six crus. The house still distils on lees, meaning with the wine sediment retained, in small copper alambics, giving a more complex spirit with greater depth and length, a method dating back to its founding in 1724. Collectors count the rare vintage releases and the legendary Louis XIII, matured across generations, among cognac's most sought-after bottles, while newcomers meet an accessible, well-balanced entry point with VS and VSOP.

History & Background

Rémy Martin was founded in 1724 by the winegrower whose name the house still carries, in the heart of the Cognac region, where the family focused exclusively on grapes from Grande and Petite Champagne from the outset. Through the 20th century the house grew into a global player, including the launch of the iconic Louis XIII in 1874, a cognac today blended from up to a hundred different eaux-de-vie, some of which can be over a hundred years old. Rémy Martin is today part of the Rémy Cointreau group, but still holds to its original philosophy of using grapes exclusively from the two finest crus, a legacy stretching back three centuries.
