It builds on the series’ maritime character but adds greater depth, more rounded smoke and a clear elegance that only long ageing can provide. The combination of malts from several islands results in a whisky that is both raw, harmonious and full of character.

  The aroma is rich and nuanced with plenty of citrus – lime, lemon and a creamy note of lemon yoghurt – along with a hint of copper coins, spiced biscuits, very subtle peat smoke, tobacco and milk chocolate. At times, floral notes appear, adding an extra dimension. The overall impression is balanced, complex and highly inviting.

  The palate opens with earthy peat smoke and gentle wood smoke, followed by the fresh citrus from the nose and distinct maritime elements such as seaweed and sea salt. A touch of black pepper, cloves and brine adds structure and depth, while the mature malt ties everything together. It is the first time Rock Oyster has received a sherry finish, and the result is a whisky where sea salt, peat smoke and coastal minerality meet dark fruit, spice and a rounder sweetness from Spanish butts.

  The aroma opens with clear sherry notes: dried fruit, dark caramel and spiced biscuits, followed by citrus, pepper and a soft, sweet peat smoke. Beneath the sweeter layers lies a light earthy tone and a subtle minerality reminiscent of sea breeze and wet stones. The overall impression is full, balanced and elegant.
