Bodegas Gutierrez
Bodegas Gutiérrez ColosíaGutiérrez Colosía, established in 1838, is located in the town of El Puerto de Santa Maria, right by the banks of the Guadalete River. Today, it is the only remaining bodega with this unique location, which is essential for the aging and production of Sherry. The perfect environment of high humidity and strong sea breeze creates an active "flor" of microorganisms that develop on the wine's surface in the barrel, necessary for the biological aging of the wine to the Fino stage. This process adds the unique and outstanding aromas that characterize a true Fino Sherry. The quality of the wines from Bodegas Gutiérrez Colosía is ensured by a careful aging process called "Criaderas y Soleras." Juan Carlos Gutierrez is responsible for production on the impressive old property. For generations, Gutiérrez Colosía produced Sherry primarily as a supplier to much larger bodegas. However, in 1997, the family decided to become independent and bottle their own products, which quickly became a huge success. Thus, the family goes against the trend of closures of old respected Sherry houses. |
