Bivrost Arctic Gin

Bivrost is the bridge between heaven and earth in Norse mythology, a rainbow bridge only the gods themselves could cross. The gin that bears the name is distilled in northern Norway and unites arctic berries, roots and juniper in a full, medium-length finish. It's a gin that tries to capture the very passage between the earthly and the mythical.

    Item no.: 22255-7896314

Bivrost's cask-aged gin — a spiced take on the house's classic Arctic gin.

    Expert description

Bivrost Cask Aged Arctic Gin is the house's classic gin, subsequently matured in oak casks to gain a rounder, more spiced character, bottled at 44%. Some of the maturation takes place in Aurora Spirit's underground vaults, which were formerly part of a Cold War-era NATO base tunnel system. Bivrost is distilled at Aurora Spirit Distillery in Lyngen, northern Norway, 69 degrees north of the equator, making it one of the world's northernmost distilleries. Construction began in 2016, and the name Bivrost comes from Old Norse mythology, where it denotes the rainbow bridge between heaven and earth — a nod to the Northern Lights often seen above the distillery. Local botanicals and glacial meltwater are used in production.

About Bivrost Arctic Gin

Bivrost Arctic Gin offers you the true taste of Norway, with a soft, smooth structure that feels mild and pleasant from the very first sip. Bivrost Arctic Gin is inspired by old Norse mythology, where Bivrost is the bridge between heaven and earth, and its delicate aromas of arctic berries, roots, spice and juniper come together in a clean, full finish. For the newcomer it's a soft, accessible entry into Nordic gin; for the connoisseur, the interest lies in the arctic botanicals harvested in northern Norway's harsh, untouched nature, giving the gin a terroir found nowhere else.

History & Background

Bivrost Arctic Gin is produced by a distillery in northern Norway, well north of the Arctic Circle, where the harsh weather conditions and unique arctic plant life shape the gin's character. The name Bivrost refers to the burning rainbow bridge in Norse mythology connecting the realm of the gods, Asgard, with the human realm of Midgard, a symbol the producer uses to describe the link between the wild, northern landscape and the finished product. Botanicals like lingonberry, cloudberry and mountain plants are harvested locally, giving the gin a distinct arctic signature.

Production & Style

The gin is distilled with botanicals like sea buckthorn, lingonberry, and Arctic herbs, gathered in the harsh climate north of the Arctic Circle.

Signature Style

Fresh, Berry-Driven, Arctic
The flavor offers a fresh juniper base complemented by tart, Nordic berry notes.
