Kentucky Owl Whiskey

A bourbon whose name comes from an owl said to have kept watch over the old warehouses. Kentucky Owl was founded in 1879 by Colonel J. R. Wathen and was, in its day, one of the most decorated whiskeys in the US, before Prohibition shut the operation down. The brand was revived decades later and is today known for its rare, non-standardised batches.

Kentucky Owl was founded by distiller Charles Mortimer Dedman in 1879, but lost its inventory when authorities seized the family's whiskey stock shortly before Prohibition in 1916. The brand lay dormant for nearly a century, until Dedman's descendant Dixon Dedman revived it in 2014, rebuilding Kentucky Owl around carefully selected and blended Kentucky whiskeys. In 2017, the family sold the brand to spirits company Stoli Group.
