Dufftown Whisky

'Rome was built on seven hills, Dufftown on seven stills,' goes an old saying, and the town still counts as Scotland's unofficial whisky capital. The Dufftown distillery itself opened in 1895 in a converted corn mill and is today a cornerstone of Diageo's Singleton range. It's a whisky built on malty weight rather than finesse, true to the town's raw, hard-working identity.

About Dufftown

The Dufftown distillery sits in the town of the same name, Scotland's unofficial whisky capital with seven distilleries within walking distance. For a newcomer, it's a full-bodied, malt-rich, robust style; for the connoisseur, Dufftown is notable as one of three distinct distilleries behind Diageo's Singleton concept, its whisky tailored for the European market while sister distilleries Glendullan and Glen Ord serve the US and Asia respectively.

The distillery is owned by Diageo and has historically been a key component of the Bell's blend.

History & Background

The Dufftown distillery was built in 1895 by wine merchant Peter Mackenzie together with John Symon, Richard Stackpole and Charles MacPherson, a stone's throw from the town of Dufftown, which with its seven distilleries has a reputation as whisky's capital. The distillery is today owned by Diageo and mainly supplies malt for the Bell's blend, while a smaller share is released as single malt.

Production & Style

The whisky is distilled in the classic Speyside style, focusing on a full-bodied, sweet spirit.

Signature Style

Full-Bodied, Sweet, Round
The whisky offers a full-bodied, sweet character with a round finish.
