In Normandy, a region far better known for calvados than for gin, Christian Drouin has turned to juniper with the same craftsmanship tradition the family has applied to apples for generations. Each variant is created with its own blend of botanicals, resulting in a range of distinctly different flavours. This is French gin rooted in the land of cider and apple casks.

Drouin is known for making Calvados, which they do very well - but they can also make gin. It is made from a base of 30 different apple varieties that they also use for their Cider. Christian Drouin's Gin is based on neutral spirit blended with distilled apple cider. The distillate comes from 30 different apple varieties, some bitter, some bitter/sweet and some sweet. This gives a rich and full-bodied aromatic flavor.

The apples are harvested, pressed and fermented during the fall and winter. They are then double distilled in small copper kettles in the spring. This gives a delicate roundness and richness. The 8 spices are then macerated and distilled separately into the Gin before the final blending.

Rose petals and lemon peel for delicate flavor, Brazilian ginger, Madagascar vanilla, Indonesian cinnamon and almond to make Ginen soft, spicy and round, and cardamom to give a fruity and full-bodied taste.

History & Background

The Christian Drouin house was founded in the 1960s in Coudray-Rabut, in the heart of Pays d'Auge, Normandy's most celebrated calvados district, and has since built a reputation as one of the region's finest apple distilleries. The decision to take on gin came as a natural extension of the house's distilling expertise, applying the same precise, hands-on methods to juniper and other botanicals instead of apples. The family still runs the business today and maintains the same philosophy of terroir and craftsmanship across both calvados and gin.
