Chambertin is the vineyard Napoleon allegedly never went to war without, and the name still stands as the crown jewel among Burgundy's Grand Cru vineyards.
Expert's Description
Camus Père & Fils Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 is a Red Wine from Burgundy, France made from Pinot Noir, bottled at 13.5% ABV.
The wine comes from the domaine's parcel in Chambertin Grand Cru itself - the vineyard that gave its name to all of Gevrey-Chambertin, and which is considered among the most prestigious in the world. The Camus family is one of the few producers to own land in Chambertin itself, and the grapes are hand-harvested and traditionally vinified with 14-18 months of oak ageing.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Racy, elegant notes of red and black berries - redcurrant, cherry, blackcurrant - alongside violet, dried rose and jasmine, which over time develop towards mushroom, leather and musk.
Palate
Fine, deep texture with a taut, concentrated structure.
Finish
Very long with lingering spice and minerality.
Serving & Food Pairing
Serve at 16-18°C in a Burgundy glass, ideally decanted 1-2 hours before serving due to the wine's young age and structure. Pairs with game, beef tenderloin and truffle dishes.
