Sierra Tequila

The red sombrero on the label has become just as recognisable as the salt on the rim of the glass itself. Since 1981, Sierra Tequila has been the tequila of the party - simple, clean and made to be shared with friends. This isn't tequila for connoisseurs, it's tequila for a night that just needs to be good.

  • Bottle of Sierra Milenario Anejo Tequila with dark golden colour and Mayan-inspired cap
    Item no.: 22227865479-18755

The name means "the millennial one", and the bottle is shaped like a small Mayan temple. Sierra Milenario comes from the same family behind the well-known sombrero bottle, only without the sombrero, and with far more time in the barrel.

    Expert Description

Sierra Milenario Añejo is a Mexican Añejo Tequila made from 100% agave, bottled at 41.5%.

The tequila is produced at Destilerías Sierra Unidas in Guadalajara, Jalisco, the same family-run distillery that has shipped the iconic sombrero-capped Sierra tequila around the world since 1981. Milenario is the house's more exclusive line: six different expressions, each named after a sign in the Mayan calendar, with a Mayan temple as the distinctive bottle cap. The Añejo expression is made exclusively from 100% blue agave, double distilled in traditional pot stills, before resting for up to 18 months in white oak barrels. The extended ageing gives it a darker colour and a far more complex character than the house's younger expressions.

    Tasting Notes

Caramel and vanilla, spiced with chocolate and oak, broken up by sweet notes of tropical fruit and ripe apricots.

    Palate

    Item no.: 22227865479-18757

In the Mayan calendar, the snake is a symbol of renewal and sharp clarity. The same could be said of Sierra Milenario Blanco, which leaves the agave completely unfiltered and stripped of everything but its own character.

    Expert Description

Sierra Milenario Blanco is a Mexican Blanco Tequila made from 100% agave, bottled at 41.5%.

The tequila is produced at Destilerías Sierra Unidas in Guadalajara, Jalisco, the family-run distillery that has shipped the iconic sombrero-capped Sierra tequila around the world since 1981. The Milenario range consists of six expressions, each named after a sign in the Mayan calendar, and Blanco represents the snake, Chicchan. This expression is made exclusively from 100% blue Weber agave, triple distilled in traditional pot stills for extra purity. The Blanco is bottled shortly after distillation with no barrel ageing, and won a gold medal at the Tequila Masters in 2019.

  • Bottle of Sierra Milenario Extra Añejo Tequila with amber-gold colour
    Item no.: 22227865479-10171

Only a small share of the tequila distilled in Jalisco is left in barrels long enough to earn the name Extra Añejo. Sierra Milenario is one of them, vintage after vintage rested well beyond the legal minimum, until it turns dark, round and full of spiced sweetness.

    Expert Description

Sierra Milenario Extra Añejo Mexican Tequila is a 100% agave Extra Añejo Tequila, aged in French Limousin oak barrels and bottled at 41.5%.

The tequila comes from Destilerías Sierra Unidas in Jalisco, the same family distillery behind Sierra Reposado and Sierra Silver, but here the ambition is different. Milenario is double distilled and aged for up to four years in French Limousin oak barrels, well beyond the three-year legal minimum required for the Extra Añejo category. The volcanic soil of the Jalisco highlands gives the agave a fresh, fruity character that carries through the long ageing process.

    Tasting Notes

Spiced oak, roasted agave and ripe fruit, with a touch of dark chocolate.

    Palate

Round and complex, with caramel, vanilla and a deep, roasted agave character.

About Sierra Tequila

Sierra Tequila comes in the clear Silver and the darker Gold (Reposado), both double-distilled in copper stills to 38% ABV. For the newcomer, Sierra is the most straightforward classic for the salt-tequila-lime ritual or a simple margarita; for the nostalgic, the red sombrero label is one of the most recognisable symbols from 1980s and 1990s party and bar culture across Europe.

History & Background

Sierra Tequila launched in 1981 from The House of Sierra Tequila and quickly established itself as one of the most widespread tequilas on the European market, driven by an accessible price and a simple, clean flavour profile. The brand built its identity around a relaxed, festive mood rather than exclusivity, making it a fixture of bars and parties across large parts of Europe for several decades. The characteristic red sombrero on the label has since become one of the tequila category's most recognisable visual trademarks.

Production & Style

The tequila is distilled from blue Weber agave from the Jalisco region and produced in several accessible styles, including Silver and Reposado.

Signature Style

Light, Agave-Forward, Approachable
