History & Background

Jose Cuervo traces its roots back to the late 1700s in Jalisco, Mexico, where the Cuervo family received one of the earliest official permits to produce tequila under the Spanish crown. Through the 19th and 20th centuries the company grew to become one of Mexico's most dominant tequila producers, as tequila evolved from a local folk drink into an international export. Today Jose Cuervo remains family-owned across several generations and sells more tequila than any other brand in the world, while still upholding the requirement of at least two months of cask ageing for its aged expressions.

Production & Style

The tequila is made from blue Weber agave, grown in the volcanic soils around the town of Tequila, and distilled using traditional methods combined with modern production capacity.
